I think that you need to get down there and get it sorted out with them about what is going on. Even if they were waiting for spare parts from abroad the job should only take 4 weeks tops and at the very least they should be keeping you informed of the progress. If after speaking with the garage you're still having no joy then contact the insurance company who will advise you of your next step.when did Texas have "I don't want a lover" as a number1?
42 weeks is insane! I'd go mental at them and say that if it cannot be fixed you'd like the value of the car, also I'd write up a list of costs incurred from not having your tow bar and claim for that as wellIs there a way to turn a salvage title into a clean title?

There is something very wrong with that body shop. I think most body shops could if they put there mind to it build from scratch a new frame and body for your car in 42 weeks.When I say from scratch i mean start with flat steel plates and go from there.
I think you should contact the auto association the better business people and a lawyer.

Your car has lost almost a whole years value while its been sitting in this garage...if i were you id be asking a lot of questions...demanding lots of reasonable answers (i doubt they'll have a reasonable answer to why its took almost a year to fix and still not fixed)...and i'd be telling THEM what YOU want now.

I hope you have a note of the mileage from when it was first took into this garage. Heard a few horror storied about this kind of thing you know...about the car being fixed ages ago and someone from the garage using it as their toy run around!

If your car was used in some sort of commercial venture, ask the insurance company to supply you with a specialized vehicle that meets your needs. For example, I own a towing company, and would have to be given a tow truck while mine was being repaired. That is the one thing you can insist on.

42 WEEKS!??! To hand-build a Bowler Wildcat takes 8 weeks, that's with a space-frame for a chassis that takes 6 weeks to weld together! So 42 weeks you can assume it's near-as-damn-it sold or stolen! If they have it after 2 years and you have made no legal approach by then under the law of gift-offerings the car would be legally theirs!Look into it and speak to the insurance company. If you have lost money through the inability to operate your business effectively then you could sue for damages.
HOW LONG??? You need to drag those robbers through the courts and sue them for the inconvenience on your life for nearly a year.
