Question:
i got a ticket for illegal tint on my car. will i get insurance points if i just pay the fine?
Answers:
If you report to your insurance?
generally, points are for vehicle operation violations.speed, reckless op, etc. window tint wouldnt qualify for points, but will get u on a 'fix-it' ticket. would be the same thing as gettin hit for a loud muffler. What would typical insurance be on a 1984 Blazer? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
I don't think this is a moving violation[points].It's an inspection ticket.Remove the tint,go to state police to inspect.Should make it go away if you have'nt exceeded the time limit. Is Car Insurance cheaper in North Carolina?
It's a fix it ticket. Remove the tint and get it signed off, show in court you have it signed off. Pay the fine. Insurance will never know. If you leave it in place and don't get it fixed, then it can turn into a moving violation (illegal equipment).Window tint is a non-moving violation, no points will be assessed to your driver's license for this violation.
As such, most likely your insurance won't assess points against you, either. But insurance companies can have different rules, so the only way to know for sure is to call your insurance company and ask. But I'd say more than likely you won't get insurance points for this.
I lower my car insurance deductible a week ago, would the insurance company accept my claim today?
Also, as stated, if you show proof of either removing your tint or having it replaced with tint that complies to the 35% or more light transmittance, you won't have to pay the fine.
no points just a fine
