Trying to get new tags for car- lift notice required for DOT?? NO idea what this means.please help!?

Question:
I received all the typical paperwork to fill out and send back to get new tags for my car for the new year. Sent it all in with my check, and they sent it back saying "a lift notice is required from the DOT". What does this mean?? Someone also wrote SR22 on the sheet. I don't have SR22. The only thing I can think of is I had an accident (with a different car) 3 yrs ago. It was black ice and I totalled the car, no tickets issued, and it was a not at fault accident. So what is this lift notice?? I have carried regular Progressive insurance since I started driving at 16. I will call the DOT tomorrow, just wondering if anyone knew. Will this cost me anything extra to get my plates registered for the new year??

Answers:

How long will my liscense be suspended?

Your tags were suspended at some point for some reason, and at the time you were probably told what you needed to do to have that flag LIFTed off your record. Perhaps it will take an SR 22 filing to get it off. If you have an accident on black ice you were at fault since you were driving too fast for conditions. Contact them and find out what you will need to do.

How much should/can I ask for in a car wreck settlement?

it sounds like you have been suspended and need to get that lifted sr 22 is type of insurance or bond for insurance i think
