I had insurance 3 year ago but my car got stoled so I didn't cancel my insurance I just let it ran out, so I thougt I don't have a car why should i keep paying for my insurance right?, well now, my DL has expired about year ago, but I can renew it they say that I have to pay 500 fee and that I have to get some insurance form I can remember the form ID R-21 or something like that which cos about 2000, now tell me what kind of trouble am I facing, about 1 and a half year having had a DL, haven't surrender my DL even tho it has expired.

Try Safeco Insurance. they ask about current insurance but one of their options is no insurance- haven't had a car which will not raise the rates quite so bad.

Get insurance for your current car, and notify DMV of what happened with your last car, and perhaps you can have that penalty waived.
