Car Insurance agents!?

It's based on what type of vehicle you own, how safe that vehicle is (EX: sports car = higher insurance, car without air bags = higher insurance, etc SUV and other 'top heavy' vehicles = higher insurance VS vehicle with air bags = lower ins, vehicle with ABS = lower ins), your driving history, age, weather or not your a student and in good standing and even gender. Males have higher insurance rates generally than females starting out. If you're a student with a 3.0 GPA or higher you get a break on your insurance. Also every so many years your rates go down. Air bags, seat belts, age, gender, vehicle size...I could go on for days. Your best bet is to call up a few insurance agencies and ask around. They can give you a quote based on the information you give them. Get a few quotes on cars that you might consider owning. Such as give them all your personal info and when you get to vehicle put in say 03 Chevy Vet, 04 Toyota Camry, 01 Honda Civic...
But like I said ALOT of information goes into the base of your insurance rate. It never hurts to get a quote.

What is gap insurance?

I've heard that cars with 2 doors and are red cost more, because they consider them sports cars. I'm not sure if it's true, but I'd check online.

I agreed to pay car damages from my pocket, so should she pay her own deductible?

SUV's are considered like sports cars. Generally your civic sedans, Corrolla, sentra, Mazda 3 type economy cars will get lower insurance costs, stay away from 2 door cars even though my Miata has incredibly low insurance rates which makes no sense to me but it is a very safe car.

How can I get a UK Drivers Licence while keeping my NZ Licence?

Your rates are based on your driving record and the value of the car you drive. The lesser the value of the car, the cheaper the rates.. The better driving record the lower rates. Sorry to say it but if you are looking to get them cheaper you will have to drive something of less value than you have and maybe older. Good luck!

City trash truck spewed hydrolic fluid on my convertable, inside and out. Why do I have to pay the deductable?

There are several factors that affect your insurance premium, but assuming all other factors are exactly the same (location, gender, age, driving record...etc), here is how it works.
Most insurance companies use a vehicle "symbol" which is designated by ISO. The symbol is a number from 1 to 30. The higher the number, the more expensive a car is to insure.
The symbol is determined by a few factors: The price of the car, How expensive the car is to repair, How often it is stolen, and statistics on how often that particular vehicle is involved in accidents.
Typically, American cars, and minivans especially, have very low symbol numbers. I think a dodge caravan is like a symbol 2 or 3. My acura integra is a symbol 24. even though it's not expensive, its in alot more accidents and highly stolen.
The color doesnt matter... that's stuff is all a myth.

Accepting responsibility for a car crash! What difference does this make to your settlement payout?

There are some very lage auto insurance companies that do not use ISO symbols and have their own methods of determining the price. But for the most part. Most carriers use ISO symbols.

Can i ride a 125 mtorcycle on a provisional licence - category A?

Honda Accords and other economy vehicles are good on insurance. Also, get an older model to save more. After you know which vehicles you are thinking get quotes. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Help! Car got rear ended other person insurance company wants car?

If you are not putting on Comprehensive and Collision then it makes no difference because the rate for liability is based on the drivers age, driving record and credit. The color of the car makes no difference. An older car with out abs brakes and airbags will be more to insure for liability then a car that has those safety devices. My advice to you is pick 3 cars you like and call your insurance company and get rates on them.
