i've tried to look for a big name auto insurance in massachussets like geico, statefarm, progressive, allstate, but none are available in this state.....anybody know why?

MA is generally considered to be one of the most liberal & litiguous states in the US.Everyone tends to sue for every cause, real or imagined. And, of course the insurance companies foot the bill.

The state courts are so liberal they almost always decide on the side of the plaintiffs.
No insurance company would want to do business in MA -- I'm surprised to see some still there. Until the residents of MA accept the concept of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and stop seeing the courts as an ATM machine , this situation will continue.

Probably state laws have not been in their favor.I asked my Insurance agent one time if the new laws would save me money on my insurance rates.. He said that Insurance companies will charge whatever they want to.. or just leave the state!
