Question:
A few years ago I was in a car accident it wasnt too bad just scraped up my bumper. I filed the claim and got the money. I never repaired it. Today I was in another wreck with a lady and she was at fault. Her car was damaged in the front and mine had a teeny weeny itsy bitty scratch on the opposite side of the bumper. The damage that wasnt caused by the lady was far worse than that.
I got a quote and it will cost about $200 to fix it. I am going to charge him directly but if that fails ill put it through his insurance. but i have to report it to mine too. Could they fall back on me and see that the damage from last time is still there?

No. this happend to me. If you claimed the damage last time they will have a record of it and the money is yours to do with as you please.when the insurance adjuster comes out they will see that the car had been damaged before and will look passed that section. However if the damage is in the same spot you are likely out of luck.

yesWhen to add insurance a newly purchased used car?
YesIt's called insurance fraud, and they don't take kindly to it. They will not pay for the same damage twice, and if they find out you didn't do the repairs last time and are claiming them again, they can and will take action against you.

I'm an appraiser. Can insurance companies bill you for half of the claim and charge the other half to your insurance?
If I inspected your car and found prior damage, I would only allow 50% for the damage on the undamaged end of the bumper as a "beauty allowance".
If you told me you had already been paid for the entire bumper, I would disallow it altogether.
