Question:
I have an 02 Cadillac Escalade EXT worth about $30k, it was invloved in a hit and run accident while it was parked. I have full coverage with my insurance. The material/ damage adjuster said it would be over $11k to repair. I am really worried about having problems with it in the future, safety, and all the hassle. Specially if I ever intend to sell it, I would have to state that was in a prior accident and the value of my car is obviously depreciated. I really dont want to keep that car, is there anything i can do?

Do you have to have insurance when taking ur driving test in california?
Second, some states have laws that would regulate what type of parts are put back on your truck. In Indiana, if the vehicle is 6 years or or newer, you can request brand new body parts. Most states though allow for used(LKQ) undamaged parts made by GM but previous installed on another wrecked Escalade, OR Aftermarket-brand new parts made by another manufacturer, but using GM molds/stamps. These parts are perfectly fine to put on your vehicle and put you back just like your truck was before the accident.
Third-Some states have diminished value laws which do allow you to make a claim for the fact that the vehicle was in an accident. Ask your company if you live in one of those states.
Finally-if the truck isn't totaled, it isn't totaled. You can't do anything about that. The damages would have to be around 70-80% of the value of the vehicle before it would be a total loss. What you can do is simply have the truck repaired, inspect it carefully to make sure the repairs LOOK right, then drive the vehicle for a day or two to make sure it drives right. As long as everything is repaired properly, there is no reason that the title would have to reflect that it was repaired. You can't lie about it but it is just as safe/pretty/functional as it was before the accident. Sell the car and start over if you want.
Car Accident Insurance Coverage Question?
will they total it out? if so, sell it as is then use the check from selling it and the insurance money to buy a new car. What is a reasonable money settlement for a car wreck?
Your choices are to have it fixed and drive it, or to have it fixed and sell it. That is what insurance is for. Properly repaired damage really doesn't affect the resale value down the road very much. There are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of repaired and even rebuilt vehicles on the road with not problems. In the first 3 years of ownership, yes the repairs would affect the value more, but your vehicle is old enough to have gone through the period of fastest depreciation already, and yet it isn't really an old vehicle. What is the telephone number for the dvla?
There's nothing wrong with a car after it's been involved in an accident. But if you insist.have it repaired and sell it. Other than that there's nothing you can do.whether you sell the vehicle now or later...the damage is already done. if you are worried about the vehicle having problems after repairs, i recommend going to one of your insurance companies "direct repair facilities". most insurance companies have shop they work with...ask your adjuster. also ask them if they gurantee repairs...your insurance company should guarantee all repairs for the lifetime you own the vehicle so if you ever have any issues you can take it back and they will fix if free of charge to you...that's how the insurance company i work for works.
