Question:
My ex-boyfriend sold the car over to me months ago and and my signature is on the back as the buyer but somehow my car got reposessed by a bail bond company who he gave the title to. How do I get my car back-all I have is the bill of sale and the keys. The bond company will not give me a copy of the title they were given--
Answers:
What is collision deductible and comprehensive deductible mean?
After you signed the title, did you actually go have the transfer legalized? Did he get arrested AFTER he allegedly signed the title over to you? I'm thinking he got a duplicate title after he "sold" you the car. At the very least, he defrauded you.If my license is Revoked in CA, could I get my license in NV?
Sounds like your ex-boyfriend is a real winner.Turns out that it wasn't his car to sell. Therefore your bill of sale is null & void. Nothing but toilet paper.
It's a civil matter, no state agencies are going to be involved in helping you. You signed the back of the title as the buyer, however, you haven't taken the steps required to transfer the title into your name, showing ownership belonging to you. Until the steps are completed, you do not have ownership, you have an interest in the vehicle, and nothing more, legally. Sounds like the boyfriend took you for a ride, got him some dough, then got a loan on his car, that he can legally use as his, because of your failure to transfer the title. Close your insurance account for this car, and try to get your money back from the bf, unlikely that you will win, and if you do, have fun trying to collect. He won't pay you, and you'll always have to be ten steps ahead of him, if you try to garnish wages. He apparently has some issues to contend with if his car is at a bail bondsman. Good luck.
