Please can someone help. I'm in a total panic because my MOT expired 3 months ago. I've only just discovered. I didnt know when it was due because i assumed the garage i bought the car from would let me know when it expired. I know forgetting is not an excuse.I'm going in for an MOT as soon as possible.but I'm so scared...what is the fine/how will i be punished?? The car is driving fine, it had a service in November 2006 and had some repairs in the first week of january 2007 (BEFORE MOT expired).

As long as you don't drive it or keep it on a public highway it does not matter if you have a valid MOT or not.

You are able to drive to a pre-booked MOT appointment if your existing one has expired. (and back even if it has failed)

If you drive without an MOT your insurance will not be valid which is an offence.
However are probably covered to drive to a pre-booked MOT but it would be worth checking if you are worried with your insurance provider.
