I recently purchased a car from a friend of mine and it has been less than a month so I still haven't gotten insurance on the car but it is already registered. My neighbors car was blocking half of my driveway (they always park like that and I'm nice enough to not tow their car) I was trying to back out my car to move it to a different location so my husband could move his car out of the garage. While backing out I hit her car a little bit (a bmw m3 I think it's probably an '05) and her bumper cracked a bit. She agreed to settle this privatly and I said I would pay for the damage...How much would it cost to fix a crack in the bumper thats about an inch long? And also could I get in trouble for hitting her car w/o insurance or is it her fault for blocking my driveway??

Not sure about everywhere, but when my folks lived in KS, my father backed out of his driveway into a parked car. The other person got a ticket for improper parking and their insurance had to pay for repairs to my fathers car. This might vary by state, but most everywhere, it's illegal to block a driveway, even partially.

As for the bumper being that much, she probably got the highest estimate she could to get a little extra. As already stated, a small crack can be fixed, and most bumpers aren't going to cost that much to replace. Did she show you the quote? Or are you just taking her word for it.

If she's insisting on it being that much, then turn it over to your insurance company. Tell them exactly what happened and they will determine who was at fault and take care of the repairs.
And stop letting her park like that, they may have been parking like that hoping to get hit. If she refuses to stop doing so, then when their vehicle is blocking your driveway, call the police and have them ticket her.

Doesn't sound like she was blocking your driveway...have her get 3 estimates & you pay the lowest. She's not entitled to the highest. Simple repair that doesn't call for a brand new bumper.Well if you dont like your neighbor tell her to f off and if she says anything take pics of her parking and bring them to court cuz that bumper will have to be replaced and thats a couple grand

its realt fully her fault becuase its illeagle for her to block your drive way. on the other hand its a little your fault because you should have told them or called the police to say that her car is blocking your drive way. you should kinda mention that she was blocking ur drive way and if she gets fystie then just go back to paying it off for her. This was probably a fake plastic or fiberglass... I hate to use the word "bumper" because they are not. They are artificial bumpers not capable of bumping anything. You don't fix something like that, you replace it. So on a BMW that will most likely be a sizable chunk of change.
