Can I legally drive a car with a salvage title in Oregon?

Question:
It is still completely safe to drive, but the passenger side rear door was damaged. Someone wants to buy it, and has checked with his insurance carrier who said they could still insure it. Can I legally sell it as is?

Answers:

Why are number plates white at the front and yellow at the back?

Yes you can. People and dealers sell salvaged cars all the time. As long as it is able to meet any safety laws in the state and pass emissions then you can sell it. However they title needs to be changed to show it is a salvaged title as well as modifying the bill of say to state the car is as such. This way the buyer has been properly informed. You may also want to contact the DMV and see if there is any other information that needs to be changed prior to the sell of the car. (They may want you to file for a salvage inspection prior to selling the car.) Hope this helps.
