I am buying a car from a salvage yard that was totaled and repaired.Does not have DOT inspection.?
You don't have to go to driving school, but you can get an insurance reduction if you do. I believe its 10% off of insurance if you have that driving certificate.I would recommend a few things. Call DPS and ask about getting a learners permit and then beg who you can to let you drive ( and acourse with them in the car). That may be hard if they don't want to help you out ( I think the permit even requires for you to be on there insurance). So that could be costly. I know this may suck, but I'm the most honest answerer you'll ever run across. Here's what I would do if I was you. This is sorta how I did it back when I was a kid wanted to drive, too. My parents were poor. Anyway.. I got part time work and saved up the money for drivers education class (back then, in 89 is was $225 and I took the class at my high school). I paid for it by getting a job at the mall. Then, having that part time job (worked at pretzal shop in mall - which I took the bus to get there) I asked mom if she would add me to her insurance if I payed the difference ( or you could get it independently). She went for it because she didn't have to pay for it. I then just went to the drivers class and they instructed us on how to get the permit, ect... I got my licence and then my brother's wife was such a cool person she gave me her old Ford. I would of just saved up for a old clunker, but God blessed me with that car. See it's not impossible- it just may take time! Good Luck!
