Is my car insurance co. trying to "buy me off?"?
As to the fine, or what the police would do, depends upon where you live. To switch a plate from one vehicle to another is illegal because that plate is registered to only one vehicle, not two. In South Carolina, you would run the risk of simply "driving an unregistered vehicle" to "grand theft auto", depending who stopped you and what mood they were in. In both cases, the vehicle would be impounded and driver arrested. They (police) would leave the judge to sort it out.Do traffic violations in other states, come back to effect your insurance in your own state?
If you happened to be stopped and the plate run, you would probably have your truck impounded and perhaps get a free ride to jail, but at the very least you would be walking and have a ticket.More Questions & Answers ...
