Question:
moving there from NYS and It is mandatory to have both here. What are the laws governing licence plates in texas?
Answers:
can an insurance company report to the dmv that you cancelled your insurance?
As long as it is a plate from NYS you are fine. When you change your registration, you will be given two plates.I have owned my car for 2 years now, and I never received a title. How can I get my title?
Sidenote: Do NOT cancel your NYS insurance until you put TX insurance into place and register the car in TX (do it on the same day!!). Also, even though you are out of state, NYS will want the plates back. Otherwise, they will suspend your license and the registration and it can cause you difficulties when it is time to get your TX license. (I'm a licensed insurance agent for NY and they don't play around!)
Even though we had no car insurance......?
It doesnt matterTexas is one of the many states that require a front and rear plate.
Added: to sean s: if you think it doesn't matter, drive in Texas with one plate and see what happens to you.
