Is it my fault when I hit a car in front of me?

Question:
I jst crashed into an old ladies car at traffic lights. The lighrt was green and 2 cars in front of her went she started to go then for some reason she slammed on her brakes. when we pulled over to the side of the road she didn't even know what had happened and where we were I was quite worried bout her so after I got home I called her and got her daughters number Daughter said she 82 and theyve been worried bout her cos shes been fainting and had a couple of falls. I don't know if this happened but because of how disorientated she was I do suspect she may have blacked outwhilst driving I didnt hit her hard as going 10km/h max but there is some damage is it my fault?

What do you have to do to get your license at 16??

A lot depends on your area and what the police say in their report, but generally the person hitting the person in front of them is the person at fault. You are supposed to maintain a safe distance so that you are able to react to the person in fronts sudden stops and starts. I know that in the case of an accident I had in college, the person who hit me from behind tried to get out of the mess by saying it was my fault because I stopped too fast, but he was found at fault (in a court of law) and his insurance had to pay for the destruction of my car (they had to use jaws of life to get me out) and the medical bills that followed, plus lawyer costs, etc. Just call your insurance and let them deal with all the specifics. Also, you can contact the licensing department in your area and request that the lady be given another driving test and she can lose her license. This could make it easier (in some cases) for her children so that they don't have to worry about her being in any more accidents. But this is a double edged sword for the lady in question because if her daughters don't help her she will be without transportation, unless your area has a really good transit system.

How could i get my title to my car after a company go out of business?

yes... you are at fault as always if you hit someone in the rear, even if they slam on the brake in a 100km/h on the highway. However, it depends if they want to claim the insurance and the surverity of the dmg. 10km/h probably only would be a very very minor scratch. So, even if they tries to blame you that cause her heart to fail, it will not work. So... yeah... you dont have to worry about it.
if a police report was not made instantly and no witness... you can just pretend it never happened.
well, yeah... if i were you, i would feel guilty too, if i bump into a 82 yrs old lady...

Yes its your fault the law says you have to drive such a distance from the car in front you can safely stop if needed She applied her brakes her stop lights were on you were too close to stop.

Do I have to retake my drivers test after my liscense has been suspended?

In many or most states, they will say that it was your fault because you failed to control your vehicle. If you are not following too close, and you are paying close attention, it is your fault. Sorry.

Question for those who have allstate auto coverage?

There are only a few situations where you are not at fault if you hit someone from the rear. The first is if the car wasn't there a second before you hit it (i.e., it cuts you off and you hit it). The second is if a car reverses into you.

What should I receive from an insurance company after a car accident?

Even if she had slammed on her brakes you'd probably be responsible though because you should have kept a safe distance for something like that to happen (theoretically, but who really does?). Most rear collisions happen because brakes are involved, yet people are still usually at fault. I don't see how her being incompetant would waive the "safe driving distance" requirement on your part. Sucks :(

After an auto accident, do I need a lawyer to get a settlement for bodily injury?

You don't say what state you are in.
In most states it would be your fault, but when i lived in S.A. it was the fault of the person who stopped in front of you, However that was 12 yrs ago and things may have changed, so check with your local police station to find out. You never know, if it was your fault but it was proven the lady blacked out then you may be in the clear.

Car Insurance??

i'm afraid you are at fault,as you should have been paying more attention to the traffic in front of you,
even if the old lady did pass out,
if the dammage was minimum you can offer to pay to get it fixed, that way avoiding a claim from your insurers and protecting your no claims discount.

I got pulled over, cop ran my plates, i have a suspened license, for not send a installment form to state, wha

yep, you're at fault.
