You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Because at some point you have done something that has been deemed to be a threat to you or others. What gets me is that they require an SR-22 for the following reasons and some of them are not driving related.
~Driving without insurance
~Driving an unlawful vehicle
~Driving under the influence of a controlled substance
~Driving on a suspended license
~Giving false information to a policy officer or resisting arrest
~Lack of child support payment
~ Out on Parole
~Sex offender
These are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.
If you don't drive, then having your license suspended probably won't matter to you. If you are required to have an SR-22, and it wasn't a driving offense, then find out what it is for and their reasoning behind the SR-22 and what will happen if you do not comply. It may be just simply suspending your license.
