Question:
I work for a company that has a large fleet of vehicles and they are always getting rid of license plates from the vehicles that were in accidents, etc. So, I want to find out if it's legal for me to get the license plates from my company and maybe sell them as "novelties" on eBay or elsewhere.
Answers:
Just scratched a car in a car park...?
Only if they are a non-current series of plates, otherwise somebody will out them on a vehicle and the company will get red-light tickets. Can you Rent a car From Tx if you have a Out of state License?
I don't know the exact law regarding that, but you may want to just phone your local police station and ask them. They are supposed to know the law. You may also try a free consultation with a civil attorney. They are in the yellow pages always advertising free consultations.I would think that as long as they are sold as novelties you should have no problem, but any novelty item that I've ever seen that closely resembled official property always had small print on it that stated that it was a novelty only.
Take fake money for example. It states right on it that it's a novelty item.
I've seen those mini-plates for bycicles with names on them, but it's obvious that those are fake.
You may run into some legal trouble if someone buys a plate from you and then puts on their car so they can steal gasoline.
