What is it when a person file financial responsibility with Dmv?

Question:
can this affect you if you move out of state

Answers:

Hit by vehicle in rear, claims denied by both insurance comps.?

That is an SR22 - this proves to the State that you have valid insurance. You will be required to file this in that state (the insurance company does it for you but you have to pay extra on the policy for it) no matter where you move. HOWEVER, some states do not have SR22s (NJ, NY & PA that I am sure about) & cannot file them. If this is the case, you would not be able to drive in the state that requires the SR22 (because your driving priviledges in that state would be suspended) if you can't file one with them. (I had this happen to one of my insureds that moved to a state without SR22s so I know this for sure). Good luck to you.

Ontario: What do you do with your license plates when you scrap your car?

Yes, you would be required to carry the SR22, until the period ordered is over. Moving to another state doesn't solve the problem, the requirement will follow you, all states share info.
