My friends car was recently reposessed. They took it while he was working so he had no idea, untill later on security let him know. They left no number or anyone to contact. The place where he bought his car from (buy here pay here) is nolonger where they use to be a year ago, no trace of them.
Anyways what do you do when your car has been repoed? Who do you contact to find out exactly where your car is? Are they legally suppose to give you back anything that was inside the car? How important is it to contact your insurance company, and do you still have to pay insurance on a car you dont have anymore?

If he does: contact the local police. They are supposed to have received a notice from the repo guys that they are towing your car legally. May have to pay the PD a "repo clearance" fee. That should at least get you the repo folk's telephone.

From there, call them up and see where the defaulted payments and processing fees (AND towing charges, AND storage fees [yes, even same day]) can be paid and cleared. Your friend probably have to Western Union it, if the other side takes that.
