What does POS stand for on an auto insurance check?

Question:
My daughter had a wreck, has not settle yet, the responsible insurance company sent her a (way too small) check written to her. Beside her name is say - TOTAL LOSS, FULL AND FINAL PAYMENT, POS.

Does anyone know a carr insurance company that quotes and lets you print certificate?
