Question:
I had an accident in November that wasnt my fault.
I was only third party insurance so had to do all the legwork for quotations myself. This consequently took a bit of time as I work Saturdays.
My car was declared a total loss and I forwarded these quotes to my solicitor who is dealing with my claim.
She then told my that the other driver has cancelled his insurance.
Can I still get my payout even though he is no longer they're customer and is there a time limit to which you can claim?
Answers:
Any idea how much insurance is on a slightly new mustang for a 16 year old?
If the other party was insured at the time of the accident you should be ok, but the delay in getting quotes may count against you. The Statute of Limitations applying to matters like this is six years from the date of the accident.Yes, he was insured at the time of the accident with his compnay they are still liable to pay for your damages.
What to do 2 weeks after an accident?
I find it incredible that your solicitor said that! It would imply that cancelling your insurance after you have an accident gets both you and your insurer off the hook. That totally negates the concept of insurance.IS THERE A STATUE OF LIMITATIONS ON A CAR lien?
Are you sure she didn't say he HAD cancelled his insurance, that is, before the accident, and so was uninsured? Even so, it seems she should have suggested you go after him.
