Can new insurance carrier find out your prior insurance has lapsed?

Ive just passed my driving test so how and where can i get insurance cover under 1K. Please help :'( (UK)?

Yes, most insurance companies show up on a database & will tell them exactly when you started & cancelled your policy. If your old company was not part of the database then the new company will require documents showing the dates. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Driving in Ontario with a G2 liscence, do you need insurance?

yes, and I belive most of insurances will check to make sure that you have insurance before they accept you. the reason why they might do that is to protect themselfs in case that you were in an accident and had no insurance because they would be paying for something that they are not responsable of.

The new 07 registration is with us. Has anyone ever been to collect their newly ordered vehicle and had an?

Yes, the new insurance provider will run reports on you and any other drivers, which will show the effective dates of your current insurance, along with consumer reports (Driving records, credit reports, etc.) You will most likely have to give them your prior insurance policy number, since most companys offer a prior insurance discount, you will have to prove this. If they know who the company is, they may even call that company to find out effective dates of your policy. There is a slight possibility they wont look into it, but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Fines for Driving without insurance in Ontario?

Has no one considered that maybe this person was NOT DRIVING? Maybe they went to college in NYC. Maybe they backpacked Europe for 6 months. Maybe they were in jail. Maybe their company sent them overseas. maybe the car was down for a major overhaul. Maybe they just garaged the car because their town has good transit that's cheaper and less stressful, and ZipCar for their occasional driving needs. (ZipCar includes insurance.)

Drivers ed?

I let insurance lapse all the time for reasons like that, and I've never had any trouble turning it back on. Can't even remember them asking the reason.

When is Geico going to offer auto insurance in Canada so I can switch?

Why would they continue to register the car? Because registration is 1 year and their non-driving might be <1 year... and because they charge hefty fines for late registration!

I need to insure a work truck part time?

sure they can and will. Only a high risk policy lets you come and go whenever. A preferred company and preferred rates watch that very close.
