Question:
If I purchase a truck and pay cash and have no drivers license can i simply park it in my yard and allow noone to drive it, at all? its paid for no lean on it?? I found a truck great price, can't let it get away and I will not have DL's till July 07..
What is the law or link to read up on this?:I am in TX. What can I did to just park it?? I am new here to TX from Fla.

Your fine, just make sure you keep the truck parked on private property until you can get insurance on it. Remember Private Property is the key word here and that you are not in violation of any city ordnances and so forth. Once you get your DL license go for your insurance, sounds to me like you will only need liability Insurance so hopefully the cost won’t be that expensive even with your age in consideration. You will then need to have the truck inspected if the inspection is expired. You will then take your required documentation to the local County Tax office and register your truck.

Like texasboy said you do not need a “DL to register a vehicle in Texas” you just need to show proof financial responsibility and proof of ownership. If your stickers i.e Inspection and Registration are good till July and the person you bought the truck from is willing to wait till July to transfer the title than that would be good. If not then you have two choices, let the tuck sit like I mentioned above or contact the County Tax office and let them know your situation, they will guide you through what you need to do and in the steps it needs to be done. I’ve found most people in the tax office to be very helpful if ya get them on a good day. Actually you should go ahead and do the latter of the two as well as go ahead and get quotes for auto insurance. This way you will have some idea as to what this is all going to cost and you can start saving for it.

Anyway once again to answer your question, yes you can just let the truck sit but again as long as it’s on private property and it is not in violation of any city ordinances.
