Insurance companies are permitted to set their own guidelines. Some will give claims-free discount after 3 years, some after 5. Some may even give a small discount after 3, and full discount after 5. Even those that give the discount for 3 years are entitled to the information, and you have to give it as a matter of disclosure or your policy can be voided if it comes up later.do you know how to get a person's name/address/phone number through a car's plate number for free?

in most states the limit is three years but some states may vary in the time limit also if you was sued due to the accident the time limit might be longer. u check at your court house and they will be able to tell u. also the insurance company should be able to tell u why they are asking for 5 years next time u get a quote ask them.In my state, it's 5 years before the insurance company will reduce your rates. Some types of infractions stay for 7 years.

I'm not positive, but I do think it is 5 years -- sorry!I have a lease but want to move to England, any advice?
It will stay forever. It doesn't just automatically vanish after a certain time period. The real question is, how long will the insurance company look at it, and the answer is it depends on their policy. They CAN look for 7 or 10 years if they want. The clue is in their question "Has there been an accident in the last 5 years?" Sounds like your insurance policy looks at 5 years.most companies 3 yrs, but some violations could be counted as long as 7 or 10 yrs if theyare really bad
It is always on your record. It is up to the individual insurance company whether or not you are charged for it. Different companies have different standards. The one I work for checks your driving record for the past 7 years.

They may ask about the past 5 years, but only rate you as a high risk if it's been less than 3. It's always on your record, but the question is whethe company insuring you wants to rate you based on the past 3 or the past 5 years.i have 1980 forklift ticket is this valid?
