Actually, you DID miss a payment (or two) according to your story. They don't need to hear that your "auto pay" was delayed or misaddressed; all they need to hear is the car was repo'ed and that automatically puts up warning flags. They're just being overly cautious and IF you are telling the truth about the car theft, you will eventually get your money. They have every right to be suspicious ANY time a loss is reported.They have to prove you made criminal act before they can accuse you of it and make it stick. Ask them what proof they have that allows them to tell you this.
Contact the Insurance Commission, you'll find their number under state govt listings. They are required by law, to settle claims in a reasonable manner. Keep all police reports that you have, and make note of all conversations you have with the insurance company, so you can relay the info, when it's needed.
