Question:
Moving to USA soon, My wife had 2 car accidents 3 years ago (her fault).
Do insurance companies have access to car insurance records from forein countries? Any chances she could restart from scratch?
What consequences if we 'forget' to declare those ?
How many years back does your dmv driving record have in CA?
Cheers
Answers:
With many companies they will just charge you a 10% or so surcharge for having a foreign license. But, they do not check DMV records of countries outside of the US. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Can I Use My Maiden Name When Applying For A Drivers License?
The US insurance companies will consider you a new driver if you don't already posses a US driving licence because they only take into account your US driving record. This will mean that both you and your wife will have to pay a high premium. As they will consider you to be in the same group as teenage drivers who have just passed there test.More Questions & Answers ...
