yea its a moving violation. Depending on how fast youll prob get a few pointsIt sure does. Sucks i know! But here in Utah, i don't know about where you live but you can go to a class held at the court house in the city that you got your ticket in and if you go to that class, it's usually at night for like an hour or two and they will make sure that it doesn't go on your Insurance. I think it's called Traffic Class. You should look into it.

Sometimes, it might take a year or 2 before they will surcharge you for it, because they wont pull your MVR on every renewal. They have to pay for the report, so its not worth it to pull it on everyone all the time. But, if you live in a state like Florida, or a couple others, state law dictates that a certain number of citations will be waived, and will not effect your premium.
