I recently bought a 2007 gsx-r600 but i didnt try and get an insurance quote on it before i bought it because not only was it an impulse buy but my friend financed a new gsx-r a few years ago and told me that he was paying about $100 a month. I am 18/m and i live in las vegas and i came to find that the cheapest full coverage insurance i can find is around $800 a month! Now there is no way i am able to afford this and i doubt i can bring the bike back so is there any way of gettin out of this without messing up my credit? Also is this an accurate pricing on the insurance and how do they know you bought full coverage and not just liability. One More Question... what does full coverage include.

Full Coverage is expensive because of the amount you picked. Put the highest deductible with the minimum limits and you should be fine.

Your insurance will always be high because you are only 18 and a boy. So its going to be a little expensive until you are 25. For bikers, I really don't know what you get, but what I do know is that in the event you get into an accident, they usually don't cover your medical bills. But every state is different.

and most insurance costs run $5000 a yr for those under 25.

800 a month in Vegas for an 18yo male. sounds pretty common. The rates are high because there is a 90% chance the insurance company will have to payout a claim in 6 monthsahh.. the insurance companies fault of course. The reason they "rape you" as you so eloquently put it.. is because you ARE in a high risk group who constantly totals cars... and you got a fast bike so you are ten times as likely. THIS is the HUGE reason why you need full coverage! Could you imagine if you total your bike and have to make payments on something you no longer have? (and yes... contrary to what you think.. you may wreck.. your not invincible)
