As long as the car is stored off the road say in a garage or on a driveway, and not used no. I had a motorbike I was selling and kept it uninsured in the garage with my new bike until it was sold to a fella that arranged his own insurance.As long as your car if off the road you don't need insurance.
If the car is on a main road, legally it has to be insured. If it is parked up on a drive or in a garage it doesn't need to be.
