If your Astro can be repaired his company will owe for the repairs (using aftermarket or used parts). they will also owe for a rental car while the Astro is in the shop.
If the damages exceed 70% of the value of the Astro the other company will "total out" the van and owe you the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of the van. They will determine the value of the van just prior to the accident based on age, mileage, condition and equipment.

They would still owe you a rental car but only long enough for them to make a reasonable settlement offer to you. If they tel you that the Astro is a total loss you should immediately start doing your own research into the value of the vehicle.

if he damage doesn't exceed your deductible, then would it be worth paying for it? do you have a witness, or a police report? his insurance, depending on the circumstances, will probably put up a fight about it, but as for paying for a rental, etc, that's something your insurance will have to fight about.we need a little more info.

It's possible the insurance company (If they do repair it) may list the van as being totaled which will greatly reduce the resale value on the van which BTW is already very low. However if do want the damage repaired his insurance should pay for it. I would also inform your insurance company in the event that his insurance company refuses. Sorry to hear that. Check with the carpark management if cameras are installed. If yes, make a police report and they could ask to view the footage if anything was recorded and they will investigate.
