Question:
I got involved in an accident with my 89 jeep cherokee on Jan. 17, 2007. the jeep was declared a total loss, and being as old as it was, it only took about $2200 worth in damage, so it wasn't, fortunately, a mangled piece of metal. he was in excellent condition prior to the accident (new paint job, only 89k mis). anyways, the insurance company took him over and then sent him to some auction where he was described as "salvage". i have some sentimental attachment to, er, Stan, so i checked out his carfax report and there is absolutely nothing there insinuating something ever went wrong with this vehicle. it says "no accidents". it's not listed as having a salvage title or anything. the latest info is dated 2/13/07 and says "title or registration issued to insurance company" and then "Vehicle purchase reported
Title issued or updated". Is this sufficient information to imply the accident? Should it have taken this long to get the info. on the vehicle history report?

Carfax is yet another gimmick institution that sells air. Here is how they operate: information is provided by police, insurance companies, dealerships, etc. on voluntary basis which means it either is provided (not to mention accurate) or not. In two words, negative records are more likely to be accurate while absence of negative info - like in your case - means absolutely nothing.More Questions & Answers ...
