Question:
What is a private investigator and what can they do to you. They think it is because of their non payment to their car.
Answers:
My bf brought me a car a week ago.?
A private investigator is a "private eye" like you see on TV.Legally, there's not much they "can do to you". They have no arrest authority, other than that of any US citizen. He/she is most likely investigating claims of financial hardship, or some similar claim to avoid payment.
If your "friends" haven't made car payments, they should be more concerned about the reposition folks, and their lousy credit history. (Which will make it difficult if not impossible to get a home loan, or car loan-at a less than extortionate rate.)
California License with a NY address?
A private investigator is most often hired to follow someone to find out what they are doing - spouses checking to see if the other is cheating, workers comp investigation, injury investigation (getting hurt in a car accident to find out if they are really injured). They don't do anything "to" you. Whatever they find out & report you are doing "to" yourself if you are doing something you shouldn't be. If someone didn't pay on their car loan, the person that would be following them is the repo man (or person)!More Questions & Answers ...
