Question:
I am going to be bringing a car from US into Canada and I am wondering what do I need to bring to get a temporary permit to drive it back to my house? I read on the website that it said I need to provide my insurance company name and policy number... Do I just give them that and not worry about even contacting the insurance company about it because my insurance company won't insure it unless it is registered...
Thanks!

Best car insurance that's inexpensive and still good?
I've done a few in the past - You need to get the car insured - usually I call my company and explain what I'm doing. You do not want to get in an accident in Ontario with a temp permit and no insurance - the fine is huge vs. the cost for insurance for a month. Plus you could get nailed for falsifying your temp permit application at the DMV.How long do you have to put in a nofalt claim of a car accedent?
Bring the current pink slip, your insurance info from your current car and the bill of sale. This should be enough to get you the 10 day permit.
Are those 1-800-Ask numbers worth calling if you are in an accident?
My company never had an issue in the past - however the cars were registered in Ontario.
How To Get A New Registration / Owners Card For My Car In The State Of Pennsylvania?
Wait until you try register the car - for old cars in Ontario they now require a bill of sale and a certified appraisel! And they charge the tax (8%) on the higher of the 2! For newer cars its blue book - usually higher than what you ended up paying for the car.
If it was me - I'd rent a truck and dolly or trailer (Uhaul - one way) to get it home. Legal and minimal hassle.
