Question:
i m a canadian citizen and currently studying in california since 2002. i will be graduate by this quarter which ends in the end of march,2007. i am planning to go to business school @ UBC which starts in May.
here is the question.
I bought a car, 2002 Audi A4 in 2002 in California and it has a california license plate on it.
i'd like to bring my car to vancouver, bc with me for 1 1/2 year and will bring it back to states as soon as i finish my education @ ubc.
can i enter to canada (vancouver, bc) without registering the car to BC? i m trying to avoid registering in BC due to the insurance issue.
i called the canadian border agency and they said that i have to register the car in BC even though i will be only driving for 1 1/2 years and will bring it back to states, because i have a canadian citizenship. if that's true.. can i just enter canda by driving and pretend that the purpose is just travelling?
please help!

i got an accident which my fault?
You can pretend anything. The fact is once the pretence is uncovered by law through an accident or a rat; then you are liable to the courts. Here pretending ignorance is invalid, they will still want a registration. Probably money for a fine as well.Honesty is the best policy,it's better than your insurance policy so go and register your vehicle for the B.C. provincial government.
You'd be amazed how much can happen in a day and a half, imagine what could happen in a year and a half!
If you tell them that you are traveling then you should be alright but u are supposed to register you car every year.
