UK Vehicle Status Report?

Hi,
I have just bought a car on ebay and before I send the money can someone tell me how to get a vehicle status report without there being a VRM link in the listing? I tried the site the link goes to but it wont let me enter the VRM directly and needs to be linked to - I think. Would like to get this sorted asap as the car of my dreams awaits!
