Not sure about the insurance but as far as I am aware the registration document states that the keeper is not necessarily the owner. Whether this works in reverse i don't know. DVLA should be able to give you any and all information you need.

Not a problem. You're only using the car down south, it's stored down south so doesn't really matter where you live. Only becomes a problem if you take the car up north for extended periods.

However, the "risk address" on the insurance should be the address where the car is kept - this is not necessarily the same as your home address.

They generally ask what your address is, and where the vehicle is usually kept, I can see no reason why there should be any problem if those are not the same address.
