I know that in the state of California, if you do not have insurance then you are technically in violation of the law. Which means that you are not entitled to reimbursement, you are the one that is determined "at fault" automatically, whether or not you physically caused the accident. In essence, the way they (California Insurance Board)see it..you have no right to be on the road at all simply because you have no insurance.I know this is not good news for you, especially if you ARE in California..if you are in another state, you should get a hold of you local state agency to be sure of your rights.
