I know that as an Insurance agent for Progressive, that I am a bit biased. However, I would like to clear up some myths and offer some of what we do offer, to perhaps help you with your decision.First of all, for your question, as a customer of Progressive myself, having had claims, I have had a great experience with our claims department, and with our new concierge service, it is getting even better. I am biased as an employee, but as a customer, I personally have had great claims experience.

As far as adding a driver to the policy in regards to a claim. This can happen since up front Progressive will ask you if there are any other household family members you wish to add to the policy. Progressive requires all household family members of driving age be listed. In most circumstances, they do not need to be rated, but can be excluded or what is in some states regarded as list only, meaning that we will charge nothing, or very little for them to be on the policy. However, if during a claim, it is found that you have lied about having noone in the household, we will backdate and add this driver. This is a change in the risk based on the idea that someone of driving age is in the household and has access to the vehicle.

I work for the company and I also believe in the product, most especially the claims practice of the company, which I believe is the most important part of the business. The claims practices are swift and efficient, from my experience. I will say that any company on this level will have it's cases where customer's will leave dissatisfied, but from my experience, they are few and far between. We do our best to service them from the time you start your first quote all the way through the claims experience.

I would never buy Progressive Auto Insurance because the CEO is for the legalizing all drugs.I've had Progressive about two years now and have no complaints. One caveat, however... I've had no accidents. I do see people driving around in Ford Escapes with the Progressive sign on them so I know they are out there checking on claims.

Any time I have needed them they have been there in a timely fashion and were prompt in doing what needed to be done. Someone hit my car while it was parked in a lot and they were all over it. I thought their rates were competitive, but recently - after a very good record - I had an at-fault accident and my rates doubled. Maybe every company does that...but now I plan to look around a bit and compare. So.

i would not use progressive ever again..for one i was getting charged for someone in my household who didn't even have a license but they told me i had to add him to my insurance anyway. then they started charing me 1300 dollars a month to have him on the policy and this was just liability. when i asked why he had to be on the policy they wouldn't give my an answer..well i canceled the insurance and went to a different company (united automobile association) and am now paying 149 a month..but progressive tried to charge me a 278 dollars for reasons that i don't know..so be careful with progressive..i had nothing but problems with them..good luckI haven't had to file any claims (knock of wood) but I will say I am 20 and have had a lot of speeding tickets and pay 60 a month...that is great for someone my age with a bad driving record.can't imagine if I were older and had a clean record what I would pay.
