Police think my friend was trying to reverse when she hit the side of car. She hit it against the rubber bumper of a Hummer. Now her door is..you know..not so good.Police estimate maybe $1,200 in damage to fix the damn thing.
The thing is that is just a scenerio.She does not recall hitting it because it made no noise or anything.When she came back from class, her car had the damage.
The police had a talk with her because she thought someone else hit her.For some reason, they were confident that she did it herself. (Hummer has no damage, strangely enough...hmm..even police say it has no damage.)They filed a police report stating it was NOT her fault.

So will insurance cover it? Her dad has State Farm with 500 deductible.Also,when he gives the police report number to State Farm will they tell him what really happened?Or will they just fix it no questions asked since the report says she was not at fault?If the report says she did it herself,will her father know what it says?Thanks!

Just ask for a copy of the police report. That's all State Farm will need.
They'll want the details to see if they can charge the costs to anybody else. If they are confident that she caused the damage, I don't understand how the report will say that she is not at fault but if it does, the report shouldn't blame her for the damage.

This will be a comprehensive claim. They will want to inspect the car themselves then, give you their estimate and a check for the damage, minus the deductible.Because it is a comp. claim, her rate should not go up.
