What are your opinions about the different car insurance companies? Which one is the best?
In the US, no. In fact, insurance through car rental places are higher than "regular" car insurance.Does anyone know if this is true?
Two places to check for saving money on rental car insurance:
1) your own auto-insurance may give you coverage on the rental for free or at lower rates, but you must know when you are renting / hiring. Check with your auto-insurance company.
2) the credit card you use to rent a car may give free coverage on rental car insurance. Check with your credit card company. Some have restrictions such as the rental car must be 50 miles away from your home address, or that you cannot drive the car out of the country like Mexico or Canada, etc.
Car insurance on monthy payments?
Good luck!
Depending on how you set up a rental contract ,car ins. purchased from a rental agency can run you from approx. six dollars a day, which covers your deductible to approx fifty dollars a day for full coverage.
Go on line for Alamo, Hertz, National, etc. for current prices.
In the state of Oregon do you have to take drivers ed to get a permit?
In NYS it is illegal for car rental companies to force you to accept their insurance! Your own policy covers you unless you don't have collision and comprehensive coverage on your policy. However, most credit cards offer a $50,000 coverage and some even higher. The rental companies will still try and stuff it down your throat because they make a ton of money off the insurance! Don't be intimidated if you have a policy in effect with full coverage! Best to check the law in your state!PS: Surffsav hasn't rented a car in a while! The coverage is almost double that figure these days if not double plus!
