One of the best things that I have found for removing stains from carpet and upholstery in vehicles is orange hand cleaner like GoJo. I know it sounds crazy but it really works. Take a scrub brush and the bottle of GoJo or whatever kind you like and scrub the Gojo into the carpet or upholstery. Use either an old towel or some paper towels to soak up any excess moisture and then allow the upholstery or carpet to dry. Vacuum the area where you have cleaned, any of the pumice that was left over from the GoJo drying will be sucked up by the vacuum. It seems that the citric acid and the orange oil in the hand cleaner attack the grease and oils left from whatever stains were there and allow them to pulled from the surface. If you are trying to clean vinyl or plastic mix in a spray bottle 2 tsps lemon juice, 1 cup rubbing alcohol and 2 cups water. Spray the mixture onto the dash, center console, etc and then wipe clean with a soft rag. If you are trying to clean leather use Macquiers Leather Conditioner. If these are on the dash etc a hand cleaner with poly granules will assist as already suggested, foam facial cleaner may also assist, or upholstery cleaner, applying a trim spray afterwards, marks on fabric can be treated with a fabric upholstery cleaner, or a carpet cleaner also suggested, steam cleaning also assists in the removal of stains, if badly stained several applications may be necessary.
