1995 Grand Prix hood release won't work?

Hood release cable has broken. I can get lay under the hood but cannot see the mechanism. Does anyone have a schematic or procedure to unlock?

I had this happen once, looked in the repair Manuel, it told one how to replace the cable. So I wrote the company and told them what I thought of their answer. They sent a reply and to do what you have mentioned. Not familiar with that car but there has to be a way because if you took it to a dealer[ arm and a leg] they would get it open. I purchased a thin twisted cable from a hardware store and from a bike repair store I got the pieces to put on the end of the cable, just don't remember the names but they use them all the time. Pull the old cable out and slide the new one through the housing.
Secure the end in the car first and then adjust the length under he hood leaving a couple of inches to play with. Kind of hard to describe here but hopefully you will get the idea.
