Uh, have you checked the parking brake, to see if it's set? If the brake is dragging, it can cause this, from either emergency brake, or a sticking brake cylinder. If it's the rear brakes, the car will go easier in reverse than forward ( due to design of the (drum) braking system ), so one way to check for this is to see if it moves easier in reverse than forward, this can be the rear drum/emergency brakes sticking.
It would help to know what make/model/year of car/truck it is, as this can mean a lot.
