I just bought a car and the guy I bought it from is a chain-smoker! He got it professionaly detailed so its been shampooed and everything but it still smells! I got febreeze extra strength for fabrics/auto and I also have a yankee candle air freshner but it still smells!!! What else can I do?? I hate driving my car now because it gives me a headache!!
Answers:
1- Wash all the windows with Windex(the tar from the cigs sticks to the windows)
2-use baking soda-sprinkle it on the carpets-leave 15 minutes then vacuum..
3-important step..get some dryer sheets from the dollar store..put some in front and back..leave the windows and the doors shut for a couple of hours..remove from car and the smell should be gone...
I used to work in rental and that was our quick cheap fix for this problem...

Try some Febreeze ... I did this when I stopped smoking 2 years ago and it worked great. At that time they had a version specifically for removing smoke, not sure if its still on the market. Well if its that bad... he must have been smoking alot... I am a smoker and I can freshen my car and it does work... I like to use new car scent. Also at carwashes they give a cork like token I usually shove in the air vent so when the air blows the smell gets circulated. also the Black Gold .. found in gas stations works well.. if you have done all that you may just have to get down with a bucket and soap and scrub the carpet and seats.. or pay 100 for someone to do it.

There is this new deoderizer out thats called "zero" that stuff is awsome. It took the smoke smell out of a few cars i fixed up and sold and even when the hot days come the interior heats up it still kills that cigarette smell. It comes in a white boddle with a big zero on the front of it. You should be able to get it in some pet stores too.More Questions & Answers ...
