I have a mechanic who is fixing my car and he hasn't returned my car and has shut off his cell phone.?

I gave my car to a mechanic to fix a week ago and he said that the car is fixed but he hasn't returned my car and he's shut off his cell phone whenever I try to call him. I'm worried that he may be doing something illegal with my car since he hasn't returned it yet. I don't have any papers between me and the mechanic. He was fixing the fuel pump in my car. What do I do about this?

If he said "The car is fixed" he probably expected you to come get it. So get a ride to where ever his shop is, pay for the repair, get your car and drive it home. You won't get that done sitting in front of the computer. By the way, if you don't trust the guy to the point you think he might be "doing something illegal" why did you give him the car to fix? Go find someone you do trust.
