Break-in damage Repairs on 92 Astra (mk 2)?

Does anybody happen to know how much a garage would charge for picking up my car (had steering wheel swan off so need to be loaded on to a truck) and fit a new steering wheel, steering shaft and shroud if i get the parts myself, insurers say its a write-off cos the garage they sent it to said it'll cost £2000 to repair using brand new parts, im gonna go to a scrap yard and get the parts for £100

a garage will not fit second hand parts sourced by yourself. i had a car financially written of so i got my local ody-shop to do the work and it was far less. ok not everything was done that the insurance would have paid for but it was safe and road legal and not recorded by the insurance company so re-insuring it was not a problem.
