The rear heater in my 98 chev astro blows cold air only. No heat. Is there a switch that I am not aware of?

I just bought this vehicle and am not familiar with the heater system.

You dont specify if you have a/c on the van, if you do there is a vacuum controlled valve that shuts off the hot water when the a/c is turned on. The valve may be stuck, or you may just be very low on coolant. It may have enough to keep the engine from overheating but not let any into the heating circuit.Get it checked by a pro that you trust.

whats this noise?

at the controls on it there is a part of it that says hot or cold,you need to have it in the heat position on it to get any heat from it,some say warmer ,or cooler ,but the same principal applies to all of them,good luck,i hope this help,s.
