depending on what type of vehicle you have there are a few things to look for, like bad fuse, loose connections, bad coil, pick up sensor, busted timing chain/belt not letting the distributor turn. bad or faulty coil wire. just too many things to actually list with out the make and model of the vehicle. in this case start with checking your coil and fuses then work from there. good luck.
