Depends how much if not that much you should be ok. If a whole bottle then ya you wanna get it bled out and put in power steering fluid. They are different properties/viscosity's so this could cause issues with steering and or seals being eroded. How many miles you check your car oil?
On the short term probably nothing will happen. Here are the differences though. Brake fluid is more corrosive to certain things than tranny or power steering fluid. They all cause seals to remain lubricated, however; brakes fluid has a tendency to do that more which could cause you larger problems down the line. Then again it depends on if you just added some or filled the whole system with it. IF you only added some don't worry. AND "IF" it happened to be DOT5 silicone brake fluid don't ever worry about it. The reason being that DOT5 brake fluid is non-corrosive. Hope this helps ya !!what can cause my car not to stop?
Drain it and start again.Think about the worst case senerio:
Your car is in an accident (lets say you hit a bus full of lawyers on a bus trip) and your at fault because the power steering failed. Then the fuild is analysised, and they prove that the reason that the steering failed is because somebody put brake fluid into it. Then the 54 lawyer search the www and up pops this question....
Where is the drain plug on the radiator located on my 2000 chevy blazer?
You knowingly drove a vehicle with a defective steering causing injury, guess what, you just lost everything because that is the way it works.
So drain the system, start again, and sleep easy.
What grade of oil is best for the winter elements?
It will not hurt anything, but you do need to have the power steering system drained and flushed and refilled with the appropriate fluidMore Questions & Answers ...
